WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in women’s soccer. The awards are for games played from August 31- September 6.
Offensive Player of the Week: Justyce Hollenbach (Harrisburg, Pa.), La Salle
Defensive Player of the Week: Allison Deardorff (Itasca, Ill.), Loyola Chicago
Rookie of the Week: Christina Stamoulacatos (Rochester, N.Y.), Richmond
Justyce Hollenbach was the shining star for La Salle this weekend, coming away with five goals (ten points) and a 1-0-1 record. Against Howard, Hollenbach recorded goals in the 30th, 57th, and 80th minutes, helping push the Explorers over the Howard Bison, 7-4. Against Lafayette, Hollenbach recorded her second career brace, including the game-tying goal in the 89th minute to give La Salle a hard-fought draw. Hollenbach is now one goal shy of matching her total from last season and is tied for the conference lead in goals.
Allison Deardorff took care of business in net this weekend, posting two clean sheets against in-state rivals Northwestern and DePaul. Both were scoreless draws and marked the first point against the Wildcats in 20 years. The draw against DePaul extended the Ramblers unbeaten streak against the Blue Demons to seven. Deardorff made eight saves at Northwestern on 19 shots faced while making two more saves against DePaul.
Christina Stamoulacatos provided a crucial goal for the Spiders in their contest against Radford. Stamoulacatos found the game-winning goal against Radford to give Richmond a 2-1 victory over the Highlanders. Richmond is unbeaten in six straight games to start a season for the first time in program history and is undefeated in a program-record 9 straight games dating back to last season.
