Outdoor Track & Field Championship to Begin Saturday

WASHINGTON – 12 men’s and 14 women’s Outdoor Track and Field teams will compete in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday at George Mason Stadium. 

Last season George Mason claimed the Men’s Outdoor Track and Field crown, winning the title with 173.5 points. Rhode Island placed second with 172 points. Also vying for a crown is Davidson, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Loyola Chicago, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis and VCU. 

Walt Bannerman and Cameron Bortis hold the top marks in the pole vault and discus, respectively, in the conference. The Patriots’ 4x100-meter relay team also holds the fastest time in the A-10 this season. 

Rhode Island won four straight men’s titles from 2021-24 and have three of the top marks in the A-10. Theo Puterbaugh and Matt Santy lead the conference in the shot put, high jump and long jump, respectively. The Rams 4x400-meter relay team also holds the fastest time in the conference. 

On the women’s side, VCU is looking for its fifth and George Mason is searching for its sixth since the Rams and Patriots joined the conference. The Rams last raised the banner in 2024 with the Patriots last claiming the crown in 2023. 

VCU’s Jaliyah Person, Aubree Harris, Like Matalatala and Blanca Pereira sit atop A-10 in the 400M, 100 Hurdles, shot put and hammer, respectively. The Rams’ 4x400 meter relay team has the fastest conference time. 

The Patriots’ Ella Semple, Helena Bastida Santacana and Kennedy Drish hold the top marks in the 5000M, 400 Hurdles and pole vault. GM’s Abigail Weening holds the top A-10 marks in the high jump and heptathlon. 

Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Loyola Chicago, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s and Saint Louis are also fighting for the title.
