VCU Racks Up Three Under Armour Weekly Outdoor Track & Field Awards; George Mason, Richmond, La Salle Earn Additional Accolades

WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 announced the Under Armour Outdoor Track & Field Weekly awards on Wednesday for meets from April 6 – April 12. George Mason’s Abby Weening repeated as Women’s Field Performer of the Week, while Richmond’s Hallie Muniz earned Women’s Track Performer of the Week accolades. VCU’s Melissa Casiraghi was selected as the Women’s Rookie of the Week.

La Salle’s Sean Cronin received the Men’s Track Performer of the Week award as VCU’s Phillip Daniel was named Men’s Field Performer of the Week. VCU’s Presten Augustin repeated as Men’s Rookie of the Week.

Cronin, a freshman from Dublin Ireland, set a new La Salle program record with a time of 3:40.26 in the 1500 meters, placing third at the Duke Invite in the process. The performance ranks Cronin third in the A-10 in the event this season and 33rd nationally.

Daniel, a senior from Manassas Park, Va., shattered a program record by reaching 15.73 meters in the triple jump. The mark leads the A-10 and stands 44th in Division I this season.

Augustin, a freshman from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., set a personal record in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 13.87 seconds. The time ranks first in the conference and 44th in Division I this outdoor season.

Muniz, a sophomore from Potomac, Md. placed third at the Duke Invitational in the 5,000 meters, completing the race in a personal-best 16:18.94. The performance ranks second in the A-10 this season and 79th nationally.

Weening showcased her versatility with a strong performance in the heptathlon, totaling 5,622 points. The Barrie, Ontario native’s score leads the Atlantic 10 heptathlon participants this season and stands eighth in Division I.

Casiraghi, a freshman from Agrate Brianza, Italy, set a personal record in the hammer throw at 59.0 meters last week at The Trojan Relays. The performance ranked second in the Atlantic 10 this season in the event and first amongst the league’s freshmen.
