WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Davidson senior Sib Naaktgeboren as its Under Armour Field Hockey Player of the Week. Richmond junior Amanda Cimillo earned Defensive Player of the Week, while her freshman teammate Amy Stripling collected Rookie of the Week honors. The awards, which were announced on Monday, are for games played from September 8 to September 14.
Naaktgeboren scored four goals and assisted on another in Davidson’s 2-0 week. She delivered both goals in the Wildcats’ 2-0 win over Longwood. She also provided an assist on the go-ahead victory against Bellarmine. Naaktgeboren, a forward from Zwijndrecht, Netherlands, scored two goals of her own to help the Wildcats pull away in a 5-1 win.
Cimillo helped the Spiders collectwins over Georgetown and Old Dominion. She limited Georgetown and Old Dominion in one goal in each game, while notching seven total saves. Cimillo’s opponents had 20 total shots with nine on frame. The Pleasant Vally, NY native held the two squads to a .100 shot percentage and .450 shot on goal percentage.
Stripling, who earned back-to-back rookie of the week nods, finished with three points over a 2-0 week for Richmond. She tallied an assist on the game-winner over Georgetown and scored the game-winner over ODU. Stripling provided a goal in Richmond’s 2-1 win over ODU. The Darwin, Australia provided an assist in the Spider’ 2-1 victory over Georgetown.
