WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Saint Joseph’s graduate student Ava Smith and Richmond junior Clara Larripa as its Under Armour Field Hockey Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Saint Louis sophomore Abby Schalow was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Davidson freshman Lourdes Wolf earned the Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Sept. 29 – Oct. 5.
 
Larripa scored five goals in two games, one against Saint Louis and she matched a career-high four goals against Ball State. Against Ball State she had a hat trick in the first half with one goal in the first quarter and two in the second. Her fourth goal came in the fourth quarter. Versus the Billikens, the midfielder from Buenos Aries, Argentina scored off a direct insert on a penalty corner for the first goal of the game.
 
Smith had a record-breaking day as the Hawks topped Lock Haven Friday. A forward from Glasgow, Scotland, Smith scored a first-half hat trick to stake the Hawks to a 4-0 halftime lead. She assisted on the game's first goal before scoring the next three. Early in the fourth quarter, she bagged her fourth of the game to match the program's single-game record of four goals; she also set a new program record with nine points in one game, eclipsing the old record of eight. It was Smith’s second Offensive Player of the Week award in as many weeks.
 
A goalkeeper from Newport Beach, Calif., Schalow made seven saves during the week, including five saves in a win at Richmond. She stopped a penalty stroke with Richmond already ahead 1-0, setting the stage for a Billiken rally that saw them score twice. It was SLU's first ever win against Richmond. It marks the second A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honor for Schalow this season.
 
Wolf, a forward from Hamburg, Germany, scored the first goal in Sunday's, 5-4, win at William & Mary. Her goal, which came at the 4:40 mark of the first quarter, was the only tally in the first 22 minutes. Wolf previously earned A-10 rookie accolades on Sept. 22.
