WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference tabbed La Salle junior Chanel Muir as its Men’s Track Performer of the Week and Rhode Island sophomore Theo Puterbaugh as its Field Performer of the Week. Fordham freshman Njam Abdul-Latif received Men’s Rookie of the Week. Dayton junior Jadyn Haywood and Rhode Island junior Lily Saul earned Co-Women’s Track Performer of the Week. George Mason junior Olamide Enajekpo was named Women’s Field Performer of the Week while her freshman teammate Shania Staats was tabbed as the Women’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Tuesday, are for competitions from Jan. 7 to Jan. 13.
Muir, a Christchurch, N.Z. native, competed in the 800M event for La Salle at the Penn Select. Muir finished in fourth place in 1:51.17, which is best in the A-10 and 13
th in Division I so far this season.
At the UMass Flagship Invite, Puterbaugh, a Sterling, Mass. native, won the shot put with a 16.26M throw (53' 4.25"). Puterbaugh’s shot put mark is first in the conference.
Abdul-Latif placed third in the 200M dash for Fordham at the Spartan Invitational. Abdul-Latif, a Bronx, N.Y. native, completed the event with a season-best 21.71 mark. His 200M time ranks second in the A-10 and is eighth in the Division I Northeast Region.
Haywood competed in the 60M and 200M for Dayton at the Wolverine Invitational. She earned a second-place finish in the 60M (7.53) and third-place finish in the 200M (24.81). Haywood, a Dayton, Ohio native, holds the best time in the 60M and 200M in the A-10.
Saul, a Montoursville, Pa. native, won the 1,000M at the UMass Flagship Invitational with a personal best and A-10 leading time of 2:48.05. Saul also ran the third leg of the winning 4x400 relay team for Rhode Island.
Enajekpo had a first-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.33 at the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational. Enjakepo, a Clinton, MD native, also threw for 17.09M in the weight throw for a third-place finish. Her 17.26M mark, which she reached in the preliminary round, is ranked third in the A-10.
Staats earned a first-place victory in the long jump event for George Mason. In her collegiate debut, she completed the event with a distance of 5.72M. Staats, a Columbia, MD, native also raced to a time of 27.04 in the 200M event. Her long jump mark is fourth in the conference.
