Saint Louis Secures Sixth A-10 Regular-Season Title; Billikens Will Be Top Seed for Women’s Soccer Championship

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis won the Atlantic 10 women’s soccer regular-season title and will serve as the No. 1 overall seed entering next week’s A-10 Championship. The eight-team, single-elimination tournament begins Friday, Oct. 27 with on-campus quarterfinal action. Every game of the 2023 championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
The Billikens closed out the 2023 season with a league-best 14-2-2 overall mark along with an undefeated 9-0-1 record with 28 points in conference play, locking down the program’s sixth overall regular-season title. Saint Louis hosts No. 8 VCU to open championship play on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 pm CT. The Rams finished the year at 5-8-4 overall and 4-4-2 (14 points) in league competition, clinching the eighth seed.
 
In addition to Saint Louis, second-seeded La Salle earned the right to host a quarterfinal with an 8-1-1 record for 25 points against A-10 competition. The Explorers, who were 10-5-3 overall, will see their first action of the championship at 7:00 pm ET on Friday, Oct. 27 against No. 7 Rhode Island, who closed out the regular season with a 4-7-6 overall mark and 4-3-3 in conference play.
 
Dayton garnered the third overall seed behind a 7-0-3 mark with 24 points in league competition and are 12-1-5 overall. The Flyers will host No. 6 Saint Joseph’s (4-8-6, 4-3-3 / 15 points A-10) at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 pm ET in the opening round. The Hawks earned the higher seed in a tiebreaker with Rhode Island due to composite record versus common conference opponents.
 
Finally, Massachusetts will be the No. 4 overall seed behind a 6-2-2 record for 20 points within the A-10, and will square off against fifth overall Duquesne who was 4-2-4 for 16 points in the A-10 and 7-7-4 overall. That quarterfinal game will be played at 2:00 pm ET on Friday, Oct. 27.
 
Following the quarterfinal round, pairings will be re-seeded heading into the semifinals, which will be played on the campuses of the two highest remaining seeds on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The championship final will be played on the home field of the highest seed on Sunday, Nov. 5.
 
The winner of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
