A-10 Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors Features Davidson, Fordham Repeats, Solo Wins for VCU, Mason, UMass

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 selected Davidson senior Joe dosReis along with Fordham senior Kyla Hill as the league’s repeat Men's & Women's Track Performers of the Week while VCU senior Gordon Smith along with Fordham graduate student Jana Rokitta collected the Men's and Women's Field Performer honors, respectively. George Mason freshman Aidan Walcott secured the the Men's Rookie of the Week while Massachusetts freshman Rose Wagner locked down the Women's Rookie laurels The awards were announced Tuesday following the conclusion of the sixth week of meets slated between Jan. 23-29.
 
dosReis, a product of Smithfield, R.I., composed a memorable distance performance as the senior emerged as the first-ever Davidson student-athlete – not to mention the first A-10 competitor to achieve the feat in a decade – to run a sub-four-minute mile this past weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, clocking a 3:58.34 mark for ninth at the meet, first on the league performance list and 26th overall nationally.

Hill, a senior out of Springfield, Mass., snapped her own school record in the 60m for a second-place finish at the River Hawk Invitational before also garnering a gold medal in the 200m later in the meet, moving up the third on the league leaderboards for the former as well as second for the latter.

Smith, a native of Wilmington, Del., logged a first-place showing in the long jump at the Patriot Games via a 7.02m bound, vaulting into fourth overall amongst A-10 competition for the year.

A European import out of Wuppertal, Germany, Rokitta cleared the 1.70m bar in the high jump to lock down a gold medal at the River Hawk Invitational, matching the second-best leap of the year for the event within the conference.

Walcott, a freshman from Standish, Maine, put together a solid performance at the Patriot Games across a pair of events, taking first in the high jump behind a 1.95m bound – good for a tie at seventh amongst A-10 competition – as well as second in the 200m.

A product of Fallbrook, Calif., Wagner secured the top spot in the pole vault at the John Thomas Terrier Classic over the week, earning a 3.75m mark and moving up into a tie for first on the A-10 leaderboard.
