La Salle's Kedir Named Men's Indoor Track and Field Track Performer of the Week, Rhode Island's Black and Duquesne's Evankovich Take Co-Women's Track Performer

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle’s Ibrahim Kadir was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Indoor Track and Field Track Performer of the Week, while Rhode Island’s Lotte Black and Duquesne’s Bethany Evankovich shared Women’s Co-Track Performers of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Saint Louis’ Alex Oleson and Katie Wissing earned Men’s and Women’s Field Performers of the Week, while Davidson’s Jordan Benson and Hannah Kanjian were named Men’s and Women’s Rookies of the Week. The awards are for events completed Dec. 2-9. 

Kedir, a sophomore from Toronto, Ontario, began the season at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday. He ran a new personal record in the 5,000 meters by finishing in 14:17.92, the top 5K time in the A-10.

Black, a graduate student from Ambler, Pa., won the 3,000 Meters in her 3k debut at the BU Season Opener with a program record time of 9:10.30. This broke the old record of 9:39.74 by 29 seconds and is Black's sixth school record. Her 3,000 Meter mark is currently the best in the Nation, all Colleges & Divisions.

Evankovich, a redshirt junior from Edinboro, Pa., led the Dukes with a school and facility record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash at the Youngstown State Icebreaker with a first-place time of 54.27. Evankovich bested the facility record of 54.86 set by Amber Davis in 2013 and topped her own school record of 54.48 set in 2018. Her time also represented the top mark in the NCAA on the first day of the indoor season. She was also part of Duquesne's first-place 4x400-meter relay team which paced the field with a time of 3:47.21. She added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash at 25.10

Oleson, a junior from Lenexa, Kan., finished third in the high jump at the Saluki Fast Start meet with a school-record jump of 6-9. Oleson is currently ranked first in the A-10. 

Wissing, a junior from Milwaukee, Wis., won the triple jump with a mark of 38-10.25 at the Saluki Fast Start meet at Southern Illinois. She also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 18-3.

Benson, a freshman from Savannah, Ga., placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with an Atlantic 10-leading 8.33-second performance at the JDL Early Bird Invite.

Kanjian, a freshman from Jupiter, Fla., placed third in the high jump at the JDL Early Bird Invite, clearing 1.65-meters (5'5) . Her mark ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and tops all newcomers.
