Massachusetts and Dayton Advance to Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sixth-seeded Massachusetts defeated No. 11 Saint Joseph’s 4-0 in Wednesday’s fifth match at the USTA National Campus. With the win, the Minutewomen will face No. 3 Davidson in Friday’s quarterfinals at the A-10 Women’s Tennis Championship.

 

Ana Yrazusta and Anna Napadiy struck first for Massachusetts, as they defeated Maureen Devlin and Katherine Devlin in No. 3 doubles. The tandem of Laura Moreno and Ruth Crawford clinched the doubles point for the Minutewomen by beating the pairing of Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid on the No. 1 doubles court.

 

Martina Bocchi kept the momentum rolling for Massachusetts as she defeated Katherine Devlin in No. 6 singles. Dropping only two sets total, Yrazusta bested Maureen Devlin 6-0, 6-2 on the No. 2 singles court. Jania Kovacevic sealed the match for the Minutewomen on the No. 3 court by dispatching Laura Gomez.

ORLANDO, Fla.—Seventh-seeded Dayton punched their ticket to Thursday’s quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over No. 10 George Mason at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday.

 

Anna Delaney and Natalie Allen claimed the No. 3 doubles court by defeating Nicole Haigwood and Kayleigh Hahn, 6-0. Jade and Jackie Kawamoto clinched the doubles point for the Flyers, by dispatching Hannah Yang and Hannah Ciaciola, 6-2.

 

Jade Kawamoto claimed the first victory of the day in singles play for Dayton, as she defeated Yang on the No. 3 court. Allen followed suit, as she was victorious over Haigwood, 6-2, 6-2 in No. 6 singles play. Jade’s sister, Jackie, wrapped up the match-winning point by turning away Christine McCarthy, 6-3, 6-2

 

Dayton will face second-seeded George Washington tomorrow evening in the quarterfinals at 3:00 pm.
