WASHINGTON – Fordham senior Nevena Kolarevic was selected as the Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Most Outstanding Performer for the second consecutive year, while VCU head coach Rifanty Kahfiani repeated as Coach of the Year. Fordham freshman Valerija Kargina was named Most Outstanding Rookie, the league announced on Monday.

The three major awards, as well as the All-Conference teams, were voted on by the A-10 women’s tennis head coaches. The All-Academic team was chosen by the league’s communications directors.

Kolarevic went 9-5 in singles play in the spring, including an 8-5 mark at the top position. The Belgrade, Serbia native produced a 9-6 doubles record, all at the No. 1 slot. Kolarevic dominated her competition at the A-10 Women’s Tennis Championship, helping Fordham reach the title match. She picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory on Court 1 against Davidson in the semifinals, before winning 6-2, 6-2 at the same position during the championship final against VCU. Kolarevic also captured the Atlantic 10 individual Masters tournament title during the fall.

Kargina provided a consistent presence at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions, going undefeated against A-10 opponents in the regular season. The Riga, Latvia native earned singles victories over George Washington’s Madison Lee, Davidson’s Ellie Hammond, and Rhode Island’s Sophie Herrman. Kargina also reached the semifinals of the A-10 Masters.

Kahfiani collected her second A-10 Women’s Tennis Championship title in as many years at the helm for VCU. The second-seeded Rams took down No. 7 seed Saint Louis (4-0) and No. 3 Richmond (4-2) to reach the championship final, outlasting No. 1 seed Fordham, 4-3, in a back-and-forth battle to capture the league crown. Kahfiani led the Rams to a 14-11 overall record, including an 8-0 mark against A-10 opponents.
