WASHINGTON – Dayton junior Kyle McNally was selected as the Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Most Outstanding Performer for the second consecutive year, while George Mason freshman Edgar Vilain earned Most Outstanding Rookie honors. Richmond head coach Houston Barrick was named Coach of the Year, the league announced on Monday.

The three major awards, as well as the All-Conference teams, were voted on by the A-10 men’s tennis head coaches. The All-Academic team was chosen by the league’s communications directors.

McNally went 27-4 in singles play this year, including a 20-1 dual match record in the spring – all at the No. 1 position. After a season-opening loss at Kentucky, the Algonquin, Ill. native won each singles match he completed, including impressive wins against Ole Miss, Louisville, and Penn State. McNally earned his last 11 singles victories in straight sets, including three dominant victories at the A-10 Men’s Tennis Championship.

Vilain finished the season with an 8-4 singles record in dual matches this spring, going 12-2 in doubles alongside teammate Niza Simunyola. The Oakville, Ontario native went 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position, including victories against Rider, Hofstra, Navy, and Wagner. Vilain was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice, winning 10 of his last 11 doubles matches with Simunyola.

Barrick led Richmond to a historic campaign, capturing the program’s first A-10 Men’s Tennis Championship since 2006. The Spiders finished the season with a 17-9 overall record. After cruising past No. 4 seed George Mason, 4-0, Richmond unseated No. 1 seed and eight-time defending champion VCU, 4-3, in the semifinals. The Spiders rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the final, defeating No. 3 seed Dayton, 4-3, to claim the title.
