MASON, Ohio - Defending champions, George Washington (11-12), earned a spot in the semifinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 sweep of Dayton (11-9) on Friday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
In doubles action, GW netted a pair of 8-3 wins in first and second doubles to earn the early 1-0 advantage. Danil Zelenkov and Julius Tverijonas (GW) first defeated Aidan Koross and Simon Jayaram at No. 2 doubles, before Francisco Dias and Chris Fletcher clinched the doubles point over Carsten Fisher and Zach Berry at top doubles.
The Colonials' Dias, who last week set the new GW record for single season wins, defeated Aidan Koross, 6-0, 6-2 to go up, 2-0 in the match. Kapukiran followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Simon Jayaram at No. 6 singles, before Danil Zelenkov grabbed the deciding point, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
The Colonials will face the winner of Richmond/Saint Joseph's in Saturdays' semifinal at 10 am.

MASON, Ohio - Top-seeded Richmond defeated No. 8 Saint Joseph's, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship. The Spiders will face No. 4 George Washington in Saturday's 10 am semifinals.
Richmond's top pair of Ethan and Jacob Dunbar first defeated Kyle Chalmers and Andres Urrea, 8-4 before Dylan Trent and Jon Quenard took an 8-6 decision against Pierre Brondeau and Michael Falloneto give the Spiders a 1-0 lead in the match.
Then in singles action, James Aronson picked up a straight set, 6-3, 6-0 victory on court five. Saint Joseph's would earn a point behind Kevin Gates, who earned a 6-2, 6-2 win versus Alex Hahn at No. 6 singles. The Spiders proved to be too much as they clinched the match behind the Dunbar brothers, at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to earn the 4-1 match victory.
