MASON, Ohio - The sixth-seeded George Mason Patriots (12-11) swept the Fordham Rams (10-8), 4-0 on Thursday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Mason earns a spot in the quarterfinals and will face No. 3 Davidson on Friday at 1:30 pm.
George Mason gained the early advantage with a pair of wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Aaron Capitel and Nick Barker defeated Pedro Alfonso and Joe Kavaloski, 8-1, before Conor Moran and Daniel Gutierrez clinched at 8-3 decision against JJ Tauil and Joey Brander.
The Patriots picked up their second point of the match when Fordham's Tauil retired in the second set. Nick Barker then dropped just one game against Joey Brander at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-0) when Joe Hill earned the deciding win at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
In an earlier meeting this spring, the Wildcats defeated George Mason, 6-1.

MASON, Ohio - Duquesne (11-7) earned a 4-0 victory over No. 10 St. Bonaventure (4-14) in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship. The seventh-seeded Dukes will face No. 2 VCU on Friday at 1:30 pm.
Harry Walshe and Tim Kane defeated Drew Blair and Hector Martinez (SBU), 8-3 on court two, and Adam Blasinsky and Medhi Mekaoui took down Trevor Haskell and TJ DeSanto, 8-3, to give Duquesne a 1-0 match lead.
Walshe and Corey Robinson each netted 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 6 and No. 2 singles to give the Dukes a 3-0 lead. The match was decided when Alex Aleman defeated Hector Martinez, 7-5, 6-1 on court three.
