Saint Joseph's, Dayton, Move on to Friday's Quarterfinals

MASON, Ohio - Eighth-seeded Saint Joseph's (10-8) rattled off four straight points in singles to defeat ninth-seeded Saint Louis (6-10), 4-1 in the first day of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at Lindner Family Tennis Center. 

In doubles action, Renier Moolman and Peter Dewitt defeated David Ferragut and Miguel Flores, 8-1 on court two. Saint Louis then won on courts one and three to take the doubles point. Juan Calero and John Nogalski took first doubles, 8-3, before Brandon Harris and Charlie Parry won 8-4 on court three. 

SJU junior Moolman evened the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at top singles. The Hawks then netted wins behind Kyle Chalmers (6-4, 6-2) and Andres Urrea (6-1, 6-4) to take a 3-1 match lead. Senior Pierre Brondeau closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over David Ferragut. 

The Hawks will challenge No. 1 Richmond in Friday's 10 am quarterfinals. When the teams met in February, Saint Joseph's won in doubles, but the Spiders pulled out a 4-3 victory.

MASON, Ohio - The fifth-seeded Dayton Flyers (11-8) defeated No. 12 La Salle (2-12). 4-0, to move on to Friday's quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. 

UD got off to a quick start with wins on No. 3 and No. 2 doubles. Bernarndo Sanson and Josh Malyon picked up their ninth win together against Thomas Macleod and Liam Rodridguez, 8-1 before Aidan Koross and Simon Jayaram took an 8-2 decision over Dale Fetterman and Mark Robinson.

In singles action, Dayton netted their second point when Simon Jayaram defeated Liam Rodriguez in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Carsten Fisher followed with a two-set finish shortly after, before freshman Zach Berry, clinched the match for the Flyers with a UD rookie record 24th win.

Dayton will face reigning champion, No. 4 George Washington in Friday's quarterfinals matchup at 10 am.
