CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The top-seeded VCU Rams (14-8) marched into the semifinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 sweep of eighth-seeded George Washington (5-13), Friday at Boar's Head Sports Club.
The Rams clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 Cindy Chala/Salome Kvitashvili, 8-4, and No. 3 Ludvine Burguiere/Olga Barshcheuskaya, 8-4.
VCU then rattled off a trio of straight-set wins to take the match, 4-0 in just over two hours. First, Burguiere defeated Grace Egger 6-0, 6-0, on court four, before Kvitashvili dropped just one match on court two. Reigning Performer of the Year, Chala, ended the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Teodora Radosavjlevic.
The Rams advance to their third straight semifinals appearance and will face No. 5 Fordham on Saturday at 10:00 am.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Fifth-seeded Fordham (13-6) advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-2 win against fourth-seeded Davidson (12-10), Friday at Boar's Head Sports Club.
Davidson earned the first doubles match on court two behind Anna-Catherine Feaster and Ally Sexton, 8-1. Fordham's No. 3 Estelle Wong and Julie Leong then evened the score with a 8-4 victory. The Rams clinched the point with an 8-4 decision from Ellie Ball and Sarah Ali.
Fordham extended its lead, 2-0 when Davidson's Sarah Stein retired from the match. The Wildcats picked up a pair of wins from No. 6 singles Ally Sexton (6-3, 6-4) and Anna-Catherine Feaster (6-2, 6-4) to even the match at two points a piece.
Sarah Ali netted a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Laina Cummer for Fordham's third point, before freshman Estelle Wong completed a three-set comeback to clinch the match for the Rams.
Fordham will face top-seed, VCU, on Saturday at 10:00 am.
