WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in volleyball. The awards are for games played from September 21-27.
 
Player of the Week: Kiera Hamilton (So., Tucson, Ariz.), George Mason
Defensive Player of the Week: Chloe Morgan (Jr., Mont Belvieu, Texas), Loyola Chicago
Rookie of the Week: Simone Searles (Fr., Marietta, Ga.), Duquesne
 
Kiera Hamilton started off the A10 season with a career weekend, averaging 6.00 kills, 2.29 digs, and 6.57 points per set as Mason swept Rhode Island over the weekend to open A10 play. On Friday, Hamilton notched a career-high 27 kills and added nine digs and two blocks in a 3-1 victory. On Saturday, she added 15 kills—hitting at a career-high .560 clip—and finishing with seven digs and two service aces in a sweep of the Rams. Her 27 kills is tied for the most by an A10 player in a game this season, and she leads the conference in kills over the whole season. As a team, George Mason set a single-match team hitting percentage record in the rally scoring era in Saturday’s sweep, swinging at a .494 clip.
 
Chloe Morgan led Loyola's net presence as the Ramblers split their first A10 weekend with VCU, totaling 17 blocks in the two matches. She put down a career-high nine blocks in Friday’s five-set loss to the Rams—three solo and six assisted—and followed that up with eight block assists in Saturday’s 3-0 victory. Morgan also totaled seven kills and seven digs and hit .238 on the weekend.
 
Simone Searles earned her second straight Rookie honor and third in four weeks, helping the Dukes extend their winning streak to five straight matches as they opened A10 play with a pair of victories over Fordham. The freshman averaged 4.67 points, 4.22 kills and 2.44 digs per set while hitting .375 over the weekend. Searles posted a pair of double-doubles, opening the weekend with 18 kills and 11 digs while hitting .344 and adding two blocks in a five-set victory over the Rams. She followed that with a season-high 20 kills and 11 digs while hitting at a .400 clip and stuffing three blocks in Saturday’s 3-1 victory.
