BRONX, N.Y. - Aaron Gordon, the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, was named Head Track & Field/Cross Country Head Coach at Fordham University it was announced today by Director of Athletics Charles Guthrie.

"Coach Aaron brings proven success as both a former student-athlete and a coach who has built championship-caliber cross country and track and field programs across the country including the Atlantic 10 Conference. During our search process, it was evident that he will be committed to an outstanding academic and competitive experience for our student-athletes."

"I'm honored to be named the next Head Coach at Fordham University and grateful for the confidence they've placed in me. Fordham already has a strong foundation, and I believe this program has the potential to compete with the best in the Atlantic 10. I'm excited to get to work building on what's already here and creating a program that our student-athletes, alumni, and the entire Fordham community can be proud of. I'm looking forward to working with Charles and the rest of the athletics department. My wife and I can't wait to get to campus and become part of the Fordham community."
 
Gordon, a premier sprint, hurdle, relay, and jumps coach, comes to Rose Hill after serving for eight years as Associate Head Coach with the University of Dayton Track & Field program, leading the Flyers to the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor title and being named A-10 Coach of the Year in the process. The Flyers claimed their first championship by scoring 104 points in the Sprint, Jump, and Hurdle events with sprinter Jadyn Haywood defending her titles in the 100M and 200M and earning Most Outstanding Track Performer honors. Haywood is only the third person in Atlantic 10 history to accomplish back-to-back A-10 Most Outstanding Track Performer honors.
 
Gordon also guided Simone Bessong into being named Rookie of the Year by scoring 18 points and securing four medals in the process. For the Flyers' success, Gordon was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year alongside fellow Associate Head Coach Kevin Gilhuly.
 
Bessong also qualified for the 2026 U20 World Championships in the 100m and 200m dash and will represent Cameroon. Gordon is scheduled to represent Bessong and Cameroon as their coach at the 2026 U20 World Championships.

Under Gordon's leadership, Dayton broke the Atlantic 10 Indoor records in the 60m and 200m. In his time with the Flyers, Dayton produced conference champions, school record holders, conference record holders, NCAA East Regional qualifiers, NCAA Championship Qualifiers, U20 World Qualifiers, and All-Americans.

Prior to Dayton, Gordon spent two seasons at Eastern New Mexico University, where he worked with the sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throws groups while helping build one of the nation's top NCAA Division II programs.
 
Before ENMU, Gordon served as an assistant coach at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where his athletes broke ten school records and earned an NAIA All-America honor. Gordon began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Augusta State University.

In addition to his coaching success, Gordon has pursued extensive professional development through advanced certifications from the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). He holds certifications in Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Combined Events, Jumps, Technical Coaching, and Strength & Conditioning, along with USATF Level 1 and Fundamentals of Coaching certifications.

A native of Waco, Texas, Gordon competed as a high jumper at West Texas A&M University, where he scored at the Lone Star Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships and recorded a runner-up finish at the 2012 Lone Star Conference Indoor Invitational. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science.
