ORLANDO, Fla. – The 2026 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship concluded Saturday with the championship final at the USTA National Campus. The second-seeded Rams overcame a valiant push in singles play by No. 1 seed Fordham, earning a 4-3 victory for a second straight conference title and 10^th overall.

Match 11: #2 VCU def. #1 Fordham, 4-3

VCU struck first, capturing the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 3. Sara Alba and Viktoria Lackova earned a 6-2 victory for the Rams on position 3, before Sofia Jane Thorne and Andrea Magallanes clinched the point with a 6-3 triumph on the second court.

Nevena Kolarevic got Fordham right back into the mix, taking down Thorne 6-2, 6-6 at the top singles position. VCU’s Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando responded with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Paola Dalmonico on Court 2, but Fordham’s Julianne Nguyen answered right back with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Alba on Court 6 moments later. Lilianna Chitamber gave Fordham the lead by beating Elicia Kim 6-3, 6-2 at the fifth position, putting the top-seeded Rams within one point of the title. VCU junior Mariam Ibrahim kept her team alive, defeating Valerija Kargina 6-3, 7-6 (7) to tie the match 3-3 – turning the three-setter on Court 4 into the deciding match. Magallanes prevailed for VCU after a rain delay, taking down Fordham’s Catalina Padilla 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the team’s second consecutive A-10 Women’s Tennis Championship title.

The Rams secured the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, which begins Friday, May 1. The selection show is slated for Monday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
