ORLANDO, Fla. – The 2026 Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Championship concluded Saturday with the championship final at the USTA National Campus. The fifth-seeded Spiders rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat No. 3 seed Dayton, clinching Richmond’s first men’s tennis conference title since 2006 and fifth overall.

Match 9: #5 Richmond def. #3 Dayton, 4-3

Dayton won a thrilling opening doubles point with victories on Courts 1 and 2. After Richmond’s Grant Cohen and Charlie Burdell defeated Sturle Hoff Skigelstrand and Rishi Dore 6-3 on Court 3, Dayton’s Kyle McNally and Eric Suk bested Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear at the top position. Flyers duo Mikkel Zinder and Dylan Jaen defeated Richmond’s Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner 7-6 (1) on Court 2 to clinch the opening point.

Richmond’s Otto Sewell began singles play dominantly for the Spiders, beating Alfons Ridstrom 6-3, 6-0 at the third position. McNally gave the Flyers the lead again with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Davidson on Court 1, before Zinder pushed Dayton ahead 3-1 by defeating Burdell 6-4, 6-2 on Court 2. Richmond continued to rally, starting with Dylan Atkinson’s 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over Jaen at the No. 4 position. Spiders junior Paxton Pritchard took down Skigelstrand 6-3, 7-5 on Court 3 shortly afterwards, tying the match 3-3. The championship final ultimately came down to the No. 6 position, where Cole Brashear completed the comeback with a 2-6, 7-6 (1), 7-5 win over Rishi Dore.
 
The Spiders secured the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, which begins Friday, May 1. The selection show is slated for Monday, April 27 at 4 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
