ORLANDO, Fla. – The 2026 Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Championship continued Friday with two semifinal matches at the USTA National Campus. Top-seeded VCU matched up with fifth-seeded Richmond, and No. 2 seed Saint Joseph’s met No. 3 seed Dayton.
Match 7: #5 Richmond def. #1 VCU, 4-3
Fifth-seeded Richmond upset No. 1 seed VCU to advance into the A-10 Men’s Tennis Championship Final, ending VCU’s streak of eight consecutive conference titles. The Spiders started strong, winning the opening doubles point with a 6-2 victory on Court 1 and a 6-3 win on Court 2. VCU regained the lead with a 6-3, 6-2 singles victory at the No. 4 position by Alfred Almasi and a 6-1, 6-3 triumph by Mats Bredschneijder on Court 2. Richmond’s Davis Wiley tied it back up, 2-2, with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the top position over Gevorg Mnatsakanyan. Richmond’s Paxton Pritchard took down Nicole Consonni 6-4, 6-4 on Court 3, but VCU’s Leon Zadrski responded with a 7-6 (2), 6-1 win over Otto Sewell on Court 5. Cole Brashear clinched the victory for the Spiders in the deciding match, besting Patrick Petera 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on Court 6.

The No. 3 seed Dayton Flyers advanced to the A-10 Men’s Tennis Championship Final on Friday with a 4-1 win over No. 2 seed Saint Joseph’s. Dayton captured the doubles point by winning positions one and three. Dayton won the No. 3 doubles match 6-4 but Saint Joseph’s won 6-4 on Court 2 moments later. Kyle McNally and Eric Suk clinched the doubles point for Dayton with a 7-5 triumph at the top position. Mikkel Zinder put the Flyers ahead 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ernesto Ruy at the No. 2 singles position, before Dayton’s Kyle McNally defeated Santiago Valle 6-4, 7-5 on Court 1. Othman Bezzaz got the Hawks on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Dayton’s Dylan Jaen at the fourth position, but Sturle Skigelstrand defeated Saint Joseph’s Damir Abdusamadov 6-4, 7-5 on Court 3 to clinch Dayton’s spot in the title showdown.
