WASHINGTON – Defending champion VCU has captured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Betterment Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Tennis Championship. The league announced the seedings on Monday ahead of the 2026 championship. The Betterment A-10 Men’s Tennis Championship begins on Wednesday, April 22 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
On a quest for its ninth consecutive league title, VCU owns an 8-13 overall record with a 4-0 mark against A-10 opponents to earn a first-round bye. The Rams will begin their title defense on Thursday, Apr. 23, facing the winner of Wednesday’s matchup between No. 8 seed Saint Louis and No. 9 seed Davidson.
Saint Joseph’s received the No. 2 seed, posting an overall record of 15-10 in the regular season while going 5-1 against league opponents. After receiving a first-round bye, VCU will face the winner of Wednesday’s showdown between No. 7 seed Fordham and No. 10 seed St. Bonaventure.
Four more teams received first-round byes: No. 3 seed Dayton, No. 4 seed George Mason, No. 5 seed Richmond, and No. 6 seed Duquesne. George Mason and Richmond will meet in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Apr. 23 at 9 a.m. ET, before Dayton and Duquesne battle shortly after at 11:30 a.m. ET.
First-round matches between Saint Louis-Davidson and Fordham-St. Bonaventure will open the championship on Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 10 a.m. ET. After Thursday’s quarterfinals, Friday’s semifinals will take place on Friday, Apr. 24 at 10 a.m. ET. The championship match is slated for Saturday, Apr. 25 at 10 a.m. ET. All rounds will be streamed on the USTA website, which will allow viewers to select the court they choose to watch.
The winner of the 2026 Betterment Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
