WASHINGTON – Richmond senior Alexis Morton earned Under Armour Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week and St. Bonaventure senior Brit Colangelo as the Defensive Player of the Week. Saint Joseph’s redshirt freshman Riley Bittinger earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the awards on Monday for games played from March 2-8.
Morton put together a historic performance on Saturday, leading Richmond to a dominant 15-6 win over VCU at Cary Street Field. The attacker from Mannasset, N.Y. accounted for 11 points – scoring three goals and dishing eight assists – tying the school’s single-game program records of 11 points and eight total assists. She became just the fourth player in program history to reach 11 points in a single game, and the first Spider to achieve the feat since Rachel Ziemba in 2021 against George Mason.
Colangelo led the Bonnies to a pair of strong victories last week, defeating Furman 15-5 and Davidson 8-6. The defender from Scarborough, Ontario recorded three ground balls and caused two turnovers in the win against Furman, helping hold the Paladins to just 12 shots on goal. She continued to disrupt the opposing offense on Saturday, forcing four turnovers to help St. Bonaventure hand Davidson its first loss of the season.
Bittinger registered four goals and an assist across two games for Saint Joseph’s, helping the Hawks go 1-1 on the week. The Baltimore native scored her first career goal against Drexel, finishing the game with a hat trick. She added a goal and two assists in Saint Joseph’s league-opening win against Duquesne.
