WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference selected Davidson junior Brooke Ross as its Under Armour Offensive Player of the Week, and La Salle senior Mary Babbage as Defensive Player of the Week. George Washington freshman Mia Milkowski earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the awards on Monday for games from Feb. 5-8.
Ross put together an efficient opening day, scoring five goals on nine shot attempts to lead Davidson past Wofford, 14-5. The midfielder from Chicago led the Wildcats with five points on the day, scoring Davidson’s first goal of the season just 82 seconds after the opening whistle. She added her final two goals in the fourth period, closing out a comfortable win at home.
Babbage, a goalkeeper from Tully, N.Y., led La Salle to a dominant 17-3 victory over Delaware State, making six saves to record a .667 save percentage. Babbage controlled the game defensively, scooping up a team-high six ground balls and forcing three turnovers while playing the full 60 minutes in net.
Milkowski shined in her first collegiate start, propelling George Washington to a 22-7 win over Howard. The attacker from Rumson, N.J. tallied seven points for the Revolutionaries, scoring four goals and dishing three assists. All four of Milkowski’s shots found the back of the net, and she finished the game without committing a turnover.
