WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne sophomore Emersen Schrom its Under Armour Volleyball Player of the Week. Davidson sophomore Cayla Weisner was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week and Saint Louis freshman Ellie Rink was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from September 1-7.
 
For the second straight weekend, Schrom claimed weekly awards after powering the Dukes' offense with 4.88 points and 4.38 kills per set while also averaging 2.46 digs. Across three matches, the Pittsburgh outside hitter racked up 57 kills, 32 digs, and seven blocks. She opened play with her second double-double of the season, 14 kills and 12 digs, adding two service aces and two blocks in a win over Loyola Maryland. Schrom followed with another double-double in a victory against Fairleigh Dickinson, tallying 14 kills, 13 digs, and five blocks for her third double-double of the year. She capped the weekend with a career-best outing in a five-set win at Robert Morris, posting 29 kills on 60 swings with a .467 hitting percentage and just one error, while also contributing seven digs and an assist. Her 29 kills came within one of the program's all-time record for a five-set match.
 
In three matches over the weekend, Weisner contributed three solo blocks and eight block assists for 11 total blacks and a 1.57 blocks per set average. The middle blocker from Deer Park, Ill., only registered one block in a win over Elon, but she was a force at the net in the next match, a win over Delaware State, recoerding six total blocks, two of which were solo. She closed out the week with four total blocks, one solo versus Coastal Carolina.
 
Rink, an outside hitter, was a force for the Billikens this weekend. She recorded two double-doubles, including a 17 kill and dig performance against Western Illinois. She led the team in kills and was second in digs. The Bloomington, Ill., native had 40 kills, 31 digs, 5 total blocks (1 solo) and 2 aces. Rink averaged 4 kills per set, 3.1 digs per set, and 0.5 blocks for 4.5 points per set. She hit .202 on the weekend.
