WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Washington sophomore Alexis Rodriguez its Under Armour Volleyball Player of the Week. George Mason junior Chelsea Colter was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. George Mason freshman Kiera Hamilton was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from September 22-28.
 
Rodriguez delivered a dominant all-around performance this week to help guide George Washington to a sweep over Rhode Island. Across both matches, Rodriguez averaged 4.43 kills per set on an impressive .359 hitting percentage, adding 2.71 digs per set as well. The outside hitter from Mililani, Hawaii posted 16 kills on a .400 hitting percentage in the first matchup of the weekend, adding nine digs and a block in the straight-set victory. She kept the momentum going with a 15-kill, 10-dig double-double with a pair of aces in a 3-1 triumph.
 
Colter put on a defensive clinic over the weekend against Saint Louis, averaging 2.86 blocks per set to help the Billikens sweep the Patriots. The middle blocker from Coral Springs, Fla set a new career high with 15 total blocks in the first matchup, a 3-1 victory. The performance tied for the most blocks in a single match in the A-10 this season. George Mason took care of the second match in three sets, as Colter racked up five blocks to close out a spectacular stretch.
 
Hamilton played a crucial role in both of George Mason’s wins, averaging 4.14 kills per set on a .269 hitting percentage. She added 1.86 digs and 1.00 blocks per set in a versatile showing. The outside hitter from Tucson, Ariz. put together a 19-kill, 11-dig double-double in the first match of the weekend, recording five blocks as well. She added 10 kills in the three-set sweep on Saturday, tacking on an additional service ace.
