WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Loyola Chicago graduate student Hayden Healey and George Mason senior Ella Semple as its Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week. Richmond freshmen Andy Condon and Lily Strebel received Men’s and Women’s Rookies of the Week. The awards were announced on Tuesday for competitions from September 16 to September 21.
Healey paced Loyola Chicago in the men's 8K at the National Catholic Invitational. He clocked a personal-best 24:14.6 to place sixth overall in his debut for the Maroon and Gold. Healey, a Pasadena, MD native, contributed to the Ramblers second place finish of 13 teams.
Condon finished second at Coastal Carolina's Chanticleer Challenge. The Katonah, N.Y. native broke the 8K course record with a time of 23:46.61. Condon helped the Spiders win the event out of nine programs.
Semple, who’s from England, raced to a second place finish in Haverford College’s Main Line Invitational. She led the way for the Patriots and finished the 5K event in 17:12.7.
Strebel led the way for Richmond at the Chanticleer Challenge. The Westhampton Beach, N.Y. native won the event and narrowly missed the course record by one second. Strebel finished with a time of 17:29.56. Strebel helped Richmond win the race out of eight teams.
