ORLANDO, Fla. - The quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Championship concluded on Thursday with two matchups between No.3 Richmond and No. 6 George Mason, and No. 2 VCU and No. 7 Saint Joseph’s at the USTA National Campus.
Match 5: No. 3 Richmond def. No. 6 George Mason 4-0
The third-seeded Richmond Spiders secured their seat in the A-10 Men’s Tennis semifinals after the Spiders took down the sixth-seeded George Mason Patriots 4-0. Richmond claimed two wins on the doubles court for the doubles point. The Spiders’ Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear won 6-4 versus GM’s Ekansh Kumar and Monil Lotlikar in court one. At No. 2 doubles, Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner of the Spiders won 6-4 against Jacco Arends and Zavan Fahim 6-4. The Patriots claimed a win on court three behind Niza Simunyola and Shari Saeed of GM’s defeated UR’s Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell 6-3. In singles, Pritchard defeated Lotlikar 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 on court two. In No. 3 singles, UR’s Atkinson won 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 over Jacco Arends of GM. Cole Brashear of the Spiders defeated Zavan Fahim of GM 6-4, 6-2 on court five.

VCU clinched the doubles point led by victories on court two and court three. At No. 2 doubles, Nicolo Consonni and Gevorg Mnatsakanyan of VCU won 6-2 over SJU’s Matthew Dubas and Santiago Valle. On court three, Alfred Almasi and Leon Zaorski of the Rams defeated Justus Agbo and Eli Gany-Dy of the Hawks 6-0. VCU claimed three singles victories. The Rams’ German Samofalvo defeated Agbo 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Alfred Almasi of VCU won 7-5, 6-3 against Dubas on court two. At No. 6 singles, Mnatsakanyan won 6-2, 6-1 versus Gan-Dy.
