ORLANDO, Fla. - The quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship concluded on Friday with two matchups between No. 2 Massachusetts and No. 7 Davidson, and No. 3 Richmond and No. 6 Duquesne at the USTA National Campus.
Match 8: No. 2 Massachusetts def. No. 7 Davidson 4-1
The second-seeded Massachusetts Minutewomen defeated the seventh-seeded Davidson Wildcats 4-1 to punch a ticket to the A-10 Women’s Tennis semifinals. The Minutewomen earned the doubles point led by wins from the duo of Mariana Campino and Belle Jonglertrakul, and Elle Faessler and Amelia Tya. Campino and Jonglertrakul defeated Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges 6-4 on court one. Faessler and Tye won on court two 6-1 against Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford 6-1. Ellie Hammond and Charlotte Calderwood of Davidson also defeated Martina Pavissich and Trinity Calinescu 6-4 on court three. In singles, Hammond defeated Martina Pavissich of UMass 6-1, 6-1 for the Wildcats’ point. Tye won 6-4, 6-3 over Langford on court four, and Jonglertrakul defeated Daniela Porges of Davidson 6-1, 6-2 on court three. The Minutewomen claimed the victory on court one by Campino, who defeated Patel 6-4, 6-4.

The third-seeded Richmond Spiders recorded a 4-0 victory over the sixth-seeded Duquesne Dukes. The Spiders will meet No. 2 Massachusetts in the A-10 Women’s Tennis semifinals on Saturday. At No. 1 doubles, Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico won 6-2 over Duquesne’s Jasa Roka and Taisia Yakunina. On court three, Lainey O’Neil and Claire Le Du won a 6-2 decision over Sofia Lopez-Linarez Perez and Denisse Guilarte. UR’s Elizabeth Novak won at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1 versus Yakunina. Then Sofia Barbulescu of Richmond won 6-2, 6-2 on court one against Mila Badics. Le Du came back from down a set to Duquesne’s Alexandra O’Brien to win in three sets. Le Du won a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 decision to clinch a semifinal spot for the Spiders.
