No. 7 Davidson, No. 8 Dayton Secure Spots in A-10 Women's Tennis Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The first round of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship continued on Thursday with No. 8 Dayton facing No. 9 George Washington, and No. 7 Davidson versus No. 10 Saint Joseph’s at the USTA National Campus.  

 

Match 3: #8 Dayton def. #9 George Washington 4-0 

The eighth-seeded Dayton Flyers will move on to the A-10 Women’s Tennis quarterfinals on Thursday after their 4-0 victory against ninth-seeded George Washington. Dayton will meet top-seeded Fordham in the quarters. The Flyers clinched the doubles point and three wins at singles to claim the victory. Dayton’s Laura Greb and Haley Klein won 6-2 on court two against George Washington’s Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene. The Flyers won the doubles point on court one after Natalie Osiecki and Neena Katauskas defeated Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka 6-4. In singles, the Revolutionaries retired on court four which gave the Flyers a point. Montserrat Sierra of the Flyers won on court five against Ramirez 6-2, 6-3. Osiecki sealed the win for the Flyers with a 7-6, 6-2 win on court one over Sasinka.

Match 4: #7 Davidson def. #10 Saint Joseph’s 4-1 

The seventh-seeded Davidson Wildcats defeated the tenth-seeded Saint Joseph’s Hawks 4-1. Davidson advances to the quarterfinals, where the Wildcats will meet second-seeded Massachusetts. The Wildcats’ duo of Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges won 6-4 over Wiktoria Czerny and Victoria Tracey of Saint Joseph’s. Davidson secured the doubles point on Charlotte Calderwood and Ellie Hammond’s victory on court three against SJU’s Claudia Perez-Garcia and Ana Ocasio, 6-4. Hammond then claimed a win at No. 5 singles over Perez-Garcia 6-1, 6-0 followed by Hooper’s 6-3, 6-3 defeat over Ocasio at No. 6 singles. The Hawks claimed their point at No. 1 singles on Czerny’s defeat of Patel 6-3, 6-0. Bryson Langford’s 6-2, 6-3 victory on court four over Brooke Tackett secured Davidson’s win.
