WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference named Richmond junior Davis Wiley as its Under Armour Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s freshman Santiago Valle earned Rookie of the Week. Richmond junior Lara Bakhaya received Under Armour Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Dayton freshman Haley Klein was tabbed as Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Tuesday, are for matches from March 24 to March 31.

Wiley delivered a dominant performance in singles and doubles to help Richmond secure its first A-10 win, with a 6-1 victory over Duquesne. He and partner Cole Brashear set the tone early in doubles and secured a decisive 6-2 victory over Duquesne's Alfrendo Vogelaar and Keita Duclos on the top court. Wiley and Brashear’s No. 1 doubles victory helped Richmond clinch the doubles point. Wiley, an Arlington, Va. native, carried that momentum into singles, where he was in control from start to finish. He took down Vogelaar 6-2, 6-2 on court one.

Valle went undefeated at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles in Saint Joseph’s 2-1 week. Valle, from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, defeated Roder’s Nathan Slattery, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. He secured the victory against St. Bonaventure’s Chase Cahill-Welsh, 6-3, 6-3. In the Hawks’ matchup against Dayton, Valle led over Sai Dore, 7-5, 3-6, 5-4 when play was halted.

Bakhaya had a stellar week and helped the Spiders secure three straight home wins over George Mason (4-0), Duquesne (6-1) and Georgetown (4-3). Her and her teammate Lainey O’Neil took down Mary Young and Brooklyn Siegel at No. 2 doubles, 6-4. Bakhaya defeated Cenan Liu, 6-2, 6-0 on the top court. She also picked up a win at No. 3 singles over Duquesne’s Jasa Roka, 6-0, 6-1. In the win over Georgetown, Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Ashley Kennedy and Katie Garofolo-Ro on the top court. Bakhaya, from London, England, then defeated Garofolo-Ro at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Klein, from Lexington, Ky., played a pivotal role in the Flyers' road victories over Saint Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure. She delivered a commanding performance at No. 4 singles against the Hawks and secured a swift 6-2, 6-4 win over Gisele Tang. Klein teamed up with teammate Laura Greb at No. 2 doubles and defeated St. Bonaventure’s duo of Sienna Smith and Kashish Bote, 6-4.
