WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Massachusetts senior Jordan Dean as its Under Armour Offensive Player of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s senior Bella Miceli received Defensive Player of the Week honors. St. Bonaventure freshman Sidney Van Tassel was named Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Monday, are for games from March 10-16.
Dean led the way for the Minutewomen in the draw control circle, recording 39 total draw controls across two A-10 victories. Dean set the tone for the Minutewomen with a career-high 23 draw controls in a dominant 19-7 win over Duquesne. The 23 draw controls is the most by any Division I player in a single game this season, and the most since UMass’ Caitlyn Petro recorded 24 in 2021 against St. Bonaventure. The Greenbank, Ontario, native added a pair of goals, completing an all-around performance versus the Dukes.
Miceli averaged 2.5 caused turnovers, 2.5 ground balls and 8.0 draw controls for the Hawks in a 2-0 week. She forced two turnovers and collected three ground balls in the win over GW. A defender from Redding, Conn., she registered three caused turnovers against George Mason and picked up two ground balls, setting a career-high with eight draw controls in each of the wins.
Van Tassel recorded her first career hat trick and added an assist in the Bonnies 22-10 victory over Rhode Island. The midfielder from Vernon, N.J. recorded a perfect shot percentage, scoring on all three of her attempts. She also tallied two draw controls in the win.
