WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne sophomore Emersen Schrom its Under Armour Volleyball Player of the Week. Dayton senior Karissa Kaminski and Rhode Island sophomore Dakota Henry were chosen as the league’s Co-Defensive Players of the Week. George Mason freshman Ava Cheney was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from October 27-November 2.
 
Schrom played a pivotal role in extending the Dukes’ winning streak to four. She averaged 6.14 points, 5.14 kills, 2.57 digs, and 0.86 aces per set while hitting at an impressive .382 clip across the two matches. In the opener, she tallied 11 kills, seven digs, two aces, and a .310 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep of Saint Louis. The outside hitter from Pittsburgh, Pa., followed that up with her 11th double-double of the season, posting 25 kills and 11 digs while hitting .426 in a 3-1 win over the Billikens. Schrom also added four service aces and a block in the victory. It marked her sixth match with 20 or more kills.
 
Kaminski, a libero from Howards Grove, Wis., led the Flyers with 34 digs, averaging 5.67 digs per set, including 22 in three sets in a win over Loyola Chicago. She added another 12 digs in the second match with the Ramblers. She also tallied nine assists and two aces in two key three-set wins for the Flyers.
 
Henry recorded 75 digs and averaged 5.77 digs per set over the course of three matches, helping Rhode Island record its first two league wins of the season. The libero from Loveland, Ohio, was consistent, recording a career-high 25 digs in a win over Fordham, then 24 digs in the first George Mason match and then a new career high of 26 digs the second match against the Patriots.
 
Cheney, a setter from Tucson, Ariz., totaled 146 assists over three matches, averaging 10.43 per set. She recorded 46 assists on Wednesday versus George Washington, 57 assists on Saturday against Rhode Island, and 43 assists on Sunday versus Rhode Island. In addition to her assists, Cheney had four service aces in Saturday's match, and she added 14 digs and nine blocks on the weekend.
