WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton senior Viktoria Wahlgren its Under Armour Volleyball Player of the Week. Loyola Chicago junior Avary DeBlieck was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. George Mason freshman Kiera Hamilton was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from October 6-12.
 
Wahlgren led Dayton with 63 assists, averaging 10.50 assists per set, while also tallying five kills, two aces, 11 digs and six block assists in sweeps over Saint Louis. She had 30 assists in the first match, followed by 33 in the second. A setter from Burlington, Ontario, she also hit .429 in the two matches on limited attacks.
 
DeBlieck started all three matches for the Ramblers in the middle and averaged 2.0 blocks per set. A middle blocker from Algonquin, Ill., she tallied three blocks at Saint Louis, seven in match one against Duquesne, and eight more in the second match versus the Dukes.
 
Hamilton averaged 4.0 kills while hitting at a .208 clip in a 2-1 week for the Patriots. The outside hitter from Tuscon, Ariz., also averaged 1.7 digs, 0.3 blocks, and 4.45 points over 10 sets this week. She continued her double-digit kills streak, extending it to seven matches. She had 15 kills in a loss to GW, before contributing 13 and 12 kills in back-to-back wins over Davidson. It’s the second A-10 rookie award for Hamilton this season.
