WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne senior Carsyn Henschen its Under Armour Volleyball Player of the Week. Davidson senior Jordan Hummel was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. Saint Louis freshman Jetta Brenning was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played from October 13-19.
 
Henschen played a pivotal role in helping the Dukes snap their five-match skid over the weekend, leading the team to a pair of road victories. The New Knoxville, Ohio, outside hitter averaged 4.50 points, 4.00 kills, and 1.00 block per set while hitting an impressive .418 on the weekend. Henschen opened the trip with a standout performance at Fordham, tallying a team-high 18 kills, four blocks, and a .485 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win. The senior followed that effort with 10 kills, three blocks, three digs, and a .318 clip in a 3-0 sweep of the Rams.
 
Hummel averaged 5.63 digs per set in a split week for the Wildcats. The libero from North Tonawanda, N.Y., recorded a season-high 33 digs in a four-set match against A-10 defending champion Loyola Chicago. She followed that with a season-high three service aces and 12 digs in the second match of the series with the Ramblers.
 
Brenning turned in a standout performance over the weekend, recording two double-doubles in the Billikens’ sweep of Rhode Island and collecting 80 total assists. A setter from Powell, Ohio, Brenning’s 40 assists in Friday’s three-set victory marked the most by any Atlantic 10 player in a three-set match this season. Across seven sets, she averaged 11.43 assists, 4.14 digs, and 1.43 kills per set while hitting .273. She also contributed two service aces and two block assists on the weekend. Brenning totaled 13.0 points over the two matches, helping lead the Billikens to their first conference wins of the season.
