WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference tabbed VCU freshman Carson Looney as the Under Armour Men’s Golfer and Rookie of the Week. The award was announced on Monday for competitions played from Oct. 25 to Oct. 31. 

Looney captured his first collegiate win after shooting 10-under on the way to a three-stroke victory at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic/Club Campestre Monterrey. He finished the tournament shooting 70-66-70-206, capturing first place out of 71 participants. Looney, a Bethesda, Md. native, led VCU to its first team title under second-year head coach Tyler Schmutz.
