VCU Wins Seventh-Straight A-10 Men's Tennis Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. - The top-seeded VCU Rams won their seventh-straight Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship title, defeating No. 3 Dayton, 4-0 on Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. With the win, the Rams earn the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Team Championship.

Finishing in just under thirty minutes, the Rams clinched the opening point of the match in doubles action. On court three, the pair of Romain Gales and Mathis Bondaz notched a 6-2 victory to get things started. Court two followed soon after as Matisse Bobichon and Hamza El Amine netted a 6-3 decision to claim the point. On court one, German Samofalov and Oscar Pinto Sansano were leading UD's pair of Connor Bruce and Matt DeMarco, 5-2, when the point was completed.

VCU claimed first-set victories on each court except No. 5 singles, where Luis Saraiva picked up a 7-5 frame. Gales earned the first singles victory for VCU on court four by a score of 6-4, 6-2, followed by Bondaz in the top flight, by the same score. 

The match was clinched by VCU's Matisse Bobichon at No. 2 singles, taking a tiebreak first-set victory, before finishng it all with a 6-3 second-set win. Dayton's Kyle McNally split sets at No. 3 singles and was leading in the third, along with Saraiva on court five nearing match victory, when play was suspended.
