ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2024 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship kicked off at the USTA National Campus Wednesday with a full slate of matches. The Championship will conclude on Saturday evening at 5:30 PM.
The reigning Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Champions, the Fordham Rams, defeated No. 13 George Mason Wednesday morning to advance to quarterfinal round where they will face the winner of Davidson and Saint Joseph's on Thursday at 4:30 pm. No. 4 Fordham started off strong in doubles action as the pair of Xiaowei "Ros" Hu/Eleni Fasoula took down Cenan Liu and Dana Edson, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. The point was clinched on court one as Raffaela Alhach and Anlin Xie earned a 6-2 decision over Emily Wurt and Jenin Alasadi. In singles action, Hu made quick work on court two to give the Rams a 2-0 team advantage before Xintong "Cindy" Zhou extended the lead on court five. Franny Shea clinched the match on court six for the Rams, defeating Dana Edson, 6-2, 6-1.

Eighth-seeded Richmond earned a date with No.1 VCU with their win against No. 9 George Washington in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship. The Spiders got on the board first, clinching the doubles point on courts No. 2 and 3. The pair of Polina Shitikova and Lara Bakhaya won 6-1, while the match was clinched by the 6-4 victory behind Lainey O'Neil and Elizabeth Novak. In singles play, Bakhaya extended UR's lead on court four, surrendering just two games. The Revolutionaries earned a point in the match in the top flight as Stella Wiesemann won a hard-fought opening set, before finishing 6-2 in the second set. The Spiders finished off the match as Shitikova finished in straight-sets on court six before Novak sealed the victory on court five.
