WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Davidson sophomore Michael O’Shaughnessy its Baseball Player of the Week. George Washington graduate student Graham Jeffries was chosen as the league’s Pitcher of the Week.  Saint Louis freshman Jackson Yarberry earned Rookie of the Week accolades. The awards were announced Tuesday and are for games played March 25-31.

A third baseman from Delmar, N.Y., O’Shaughnessy hit .500 (7-14) with a 1.793 on base plus slugging, a pair of home runs and seven RBI as the Wildcats went 2-2 and won 2 of 3 against A-10 foe Saint Joseph’s. He slugged 1.143, with a .650 on-base percentage, and also had a double, a triple, five walks and 16 total bases. In his best performance of the week, O’Shaughnessy had a grand slam and six RBI in Saturday's 14-3 win over the Hawks. He also homered in Sunday's finale.

Jeffries' week was headlined by a stellar start in Sunday's shutout victory of St. Bonaventure to secure the series sweep. A right-hander from Chelmsford, Mass., Jeffries tossed 7.0 innings, only allowing six total baserunners on the day, sitting down the first eight batters he faced. Jeffries struck out six batters and held opposing hitters to a .222 average. He did not walk or hit a batter and tossed 100 total pitches. He picked up the win on Sunday, moving him to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

Yarberry had a stand-out performance in the Billikens’ sweep of Rhode Island over the weekend. The right-handed pitcher from Lake St. Louis, Mo., threw for six complete innings, earning his fourth win of the season. Yarberry earned the start and through 6.0 complete innings with six strikeouts and only one run allowed with five hits.
