WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference tabbed Dayton redshirt junior Bobby Stang as its Under Armour Baseball Player of the Week, while his freshman teammate Colin Lynch captured Rookie of the Week honors. Richmond sophomore Joey Giordano collected Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. The awards are for games played from March 2 to March 8.
Stang, a Massapequa, NY native, slashed .438/.526/1.063 in 4-0 week for Dayton. The infielder/outfielder hit three home runs and a double. Stang also scored six runs and drove eight runs.
In Giordano’s start against Binghamton, the left-handed pitcher carried a no-hitter through 6.1 innings. He allowed only one run, a solo homer in the seventh. Giordano, a Montvale, NJ native, finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts.
Lynch, a Doylestown, PA native, slashed .462/.650/1.154 in a 4-0 week for the Flyers. The designated hitter connected for three home runs, scoring eight and tallying nine RBIs. In Dayton’s 10-9 win over Maine, he provided the walk off hit.
