Additionally, Loyola Chicago’s Bree Borum earned Setter of the Year accolades for the third straight year. Davidson junior Jordan Hummel and Saint Louis freshman Addy Brus also claimed major awards.

Hummel was named Libero of the Year while Brus earned Rookie of the Year.  The Atlantic 10 announced the five major awards along with the All-Conference, All-Rookie and All-Academic teams Friday prior to the start of the 2024 A-10 Volleyball Championship at Frericks Center in Davidson, N.C. The major awards, All-Conference Teams and All-Rookie Team were voted on by the A-10 head volleyball coaches. The All-Academic team was selected by the volleyball media relations directors.

Almodovar ranks seventh nationally with 4.92 kills per set and eighth with 5.59 points per set. An outside hitter from Noblesville, Ind., she has 12 double-doubles on the season including a career-high 28 kills along with 13 digs against South Florida. A three-time A-10 Player of the Week this season, she became the Dayton’s career kills leader with an 18-kill performance at Fordham. A four-time member of the A-10 All-Conference First Team and A-10 All-Championship Team, she was named AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year in 2023. She was also named to the All-Conference First Team.

Borum crossed the 3,000 career assists plateau in the final game of the regular season against George Washington, moving into fifth all-time at Loyola. She averaged 9.34 assist per set and 3.05 in digs per set this season to lead the team in both categories, ranking No. 2 and No. 8 in the A-10 respectively. A Sterling, Ill., native, Borum ranked eighth nationally in triple-doubles (assists-kills-digs) with four, and she tallied 18 double-doubles (assists-digs) and three triple-doubles this year. Named A-10 Player of the Week twice, she was also named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Academic Team.

Hummel ranked second in the Atlantic 10 in digs per set with 4.48 and in total digs with 497. Hailing from North Tonawanda, N.Y., she had eight matches with 20 or more digs and a season high 29 digs versus George Washington. She also ranked fifth in the Atlantic 10 with 42 aces. She was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4.

Brus, an outside hitter from Cincinnati, Ohio, ranked second in the A-10 and 34th nationally in total kills (428) and she was third in the league in kills per set (3.69). Brus also was second in the conference in total points (4.87), which stood 36th nationally. She was third in the A-10 in points per set (4.20), and led the league and was 14th nationally in total attacks (1,260). A three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, Brus was also named to the All-Rookie Team.

Horsmon, Dayton’s all-time winningest coach, has 403 wins over 16 seasons at UD. That includes a perfect 18-0 Atlantic 10 record the last two seasons and a 28-1 mark overall in 2024, ranking 18th in the latest AVCA poll. The Flyers surrendered a record low two sets in league play this year, and the 18-0 conference record is the program's third undefeated conference season in the last four years. An eight-time A-10 Coach of the Year, he has led the program to 11 A-10 regular season titles and 12 A-10 Championship titles.

The 2024 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship begins with two Friday quarterfinal matches at 1 and 3:30 pm ET. Saturday’s semifinals are also at 1 and 3:30 pm ET and the championship final will be played Sunday at noon ET. All five matches of the A-10 championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.
