WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton senior Brooke Smith its Volleyball Player of the Week. George Mason sophomore Autumn Martinez-Robinson was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. George Washington first year Taylor Treahy was selected as Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Oct. 1-6.

Smith played a major role in both of Dayton’s sweeps at VCU this weekend, hitting an impressive .607 from the floor while averaging 3.17 kills per set. The Leo, Ind., native had eight kills and only one error for a .538 attack percentage in the first win over the Rams, then came back to collect 11 kills with just one error for a .667 mark. Smith also contributed defensively, adding three block assists Friday and a solo block on Saturday.

Martinez-Robinson, a Lutz, Fla., native totaled 13 and 28 digs, an average of 4.56 digs per set, against Davidson to help the Patriots go 1-1. The libero’s 28 digs is the second-highest total number of digs for an A-10 player this season. She had double-digit digs in 15 of the 16 games this season, including the last 14 consecutive games. In addition to the digs, Martinez-Robinson tallied a total of 13 assists and added four service aces.

Treahy, an outside hitter / opposite side hitter from Santa Clarita, Calif., posted a .333 hitting percentage across two wins over Fordham this weekend; She averaged 4.21 points and 3.43 kills per set. She also collected five total aces and tallied 3.14 digs per set in helping the Revolutionaries earn the sweet of the Rams.
