WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference named a pair of teammates, Rhode Island senior Sofia Piccone and freshman Alison Pankowicz as its Women's Cross Country Performer and Rookie of the Week. On the men's side, Fordham junior Matthew Febles was selected as the Performer of the Week and Duquesne freshman Sam Freedman was chosen as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Tuesday and are for competitions played Oct. 8 to 14.

Piccone was the top finisher for Rhode Island at the New England Cross Country Championship Friday. The West Chester, Pa. native was named All-New England after her personal-best time of 17:52.63 led the Rams to match a program-best second place finish.

Pankowicz picked up points for Rhode Island at the New England Cross Country Champioship Friday. The Warwick, R.I. native placed 30th and was the fourth fastest freshman in the field, placing behind only Kiera Hall of Providence (17th, 18:18.90), Northeastern's Emily McCann (22nd, 18:29.16) and New Hampshire's Bailey Hall (28th, 18:41.73).

Febles finished 15th at the Metropolitan Championship. The hometown Bronx, N.Y. native ran a  26:26.36 over the 8K course.

Freedman led the Duquesne men in 23rd place out of 132 in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, running a 26:44.1 over the 8k course.
