NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Reigning Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country champion Loyola Chicago earned recognition as the preseason favorite entering the 2023 campaign, per the conference's annual Preseason Poll released Wednesday afternoon in advance of the season's opening slate of meets set for this upcoming Friday, Sept. 1.
The A-10 Preseason Poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Ramblers head into the year a near-unanimous top overall selection in the poll, earning 222 total points behind 13 first-place votes. Richmond locked down second on the Preseason Poll, compiling 191 total points, while both George Mason and La Salle deadlocked at 181 total points en route to a No. 3 ranking in the poll, the latter of which grabbed the final two first-place votes along the way.
With 167 total points, George Washington slotted in at fifth in the poll with Dayton (156), Massachusetts (138) and Duquesne (113) rounding out the sixth, seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Davidson (108) and Rhode Island (87) wrapped up the top 10 while Saint Louis (80), Saint Joseph's (74), Fordham (54), VCU (26) and St. Bonaventure (22) capped the poll.
The 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country season officially gets underway on Friday, Sept. 1 with the league concluding the campaign at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships, set for Saturday, Oct. 28 at Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
