Headlined by a six-goal effort from Lindsey Frank, second-seeded Richmond powered past No. 1 overall Massachusetts in the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship final, utilizing a shutdown defensive performance throughout the second half to dispatch the Minutewomen via a final 20-13 mark on Sunday, May 7 at Cary Street Field in Richmond, Va. The Spiders opened championship play against defending title-winner No. 3 Saint Joseph's in the semis, grounding the Hawks behind a 21-14 effort to clinch an opportunity at the title; meanwhile, UMass took care of business against fourth-seeded Davidson in the opening semifinal, topping the Wildcats via a defensive 15-8 margin.
Richmond advanced to the NCAA Tourament as the A-10 automatic qualifer, taking down Marquette in the opening round, 18-8, for the program's first-ever postseason victory before falling to North Carolina in the second round by a 16-12 decision. Additionally, Massachusetts earned a second consecutive at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, dropping a first-round clash against Johns Hopkins, 19-8.
