NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Massachusetts senior Mike Tobin as its Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week. Hobart senior Adam Shea was named Defensive Player of the Week.  Saint Joseph’s sophomore Shayne Ryan was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played March 13-19.

Tobin posted his first hat trick of the season in UMass' 12-10 win over High Point, also adding an assist for a four-point performance. He scored the game winner versus the Panthers, his third tally of the day, with the score tied at 10 with 4:06 to play. Additionally, two of the goals by the midfielder from Reading, Mass., came in man up situations. He also grabbed two ground balls and had two caused turnovers.

Shea won 17-of-25 faceoffs and collected a season-high matching 13 ground balls as Hobart defeated St. Bonaventure 24-10 to open Atlantic 10 play. The 13 ground balls by the midfielder from Greensboro, N.C., are the most in an A-10 conference game.

Ryan recorded 13 saves for the second consecutive week, conceding 12 goals in a 14-12 A-10 opening win against Richmond where he faced 45 shots. Ryan, a Gainesville, Fla., native, redshirted last year, so last weekend’s win was his first for the Crimson and Gray.
