WASHINGTON – The Massachusetts Minutemen swept the Atlantic 10 Under Armour Men’s Lacrosse Weekly awards with sophomore Jack Turowsky earning Offensive Player of the Week. Sophomore goalkeeper Owen Salanger earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and his freshman teammate Colin Coyle collected Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Monday for competitions played from March 2 to March 8.
Turowsky, an East Longmeadow, MA native, led UMass in scoring in a 2-0 week with nine points on four goals and five assists. He also had two ground balls and a caused turnover. In the Minutemen’s win over UMass Lowell, Turowsky logged a hat trick and two assists. He provided the game-winning goal and three assists in a 7-6 victory over Vermont.
Salanger posted a .639 save percentage and 6.50 goals against average in a 2-0 week. The Liverpool, NY native made 13 saves in an 18-8 win over UMass Lowell. Against Vermont, Salanger had 10 stops in a 7-6 victory, including one at the final buzzer to prevent the tying goal.
Coyle posted six points on a goal and five assists across two wins for UMass. Coyle, an attack from Westfield, NJ, logged five points against UMass Lowell on a goal and four assists. He also had three ground balls and an assist in UMass’ victory over Vermont.
