NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington sophomore Jed Dy was named Atlantic 10 Golfers of the Week while Rhode Island freshman Tony Liu was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards are for tournaments played from Sept. 21-27.
Dy shot an opening round 67 and stayed in the top 10 the entire tournament as GW finished tied for second at the Virtues Intercollegiate. Hailing from Makati, Philippines, he finished with a 210 (67-61-72) and tied for ninth overall. He also led the tournament with 17 birdies, helping the Revolutionaries post a team-best 62 in the three rounds.
Liu from placed 21st out of 72 at the Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale. A Bradenton, Fla., product, he was Rhode Island’s most consistent performer on the weekend, shooting a 222 (73-75-74) on the Par-70 Yale Golf Course.
