ORLANDO, Fla. – Fourth-seeded Davidson defeated No. 12 Saint Joseph’s 4-0, while No. 1 VCU defeated No. 8 Richmond  4-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship at the USTA National Campus on Thursday.

Davidson advances to face No. 1 VCU at 5:30 pm.

Davidson earned victories in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the opening point and an early match lead. Mira Gladstone and Elizabeth Truluck won 6-3 at No. 2 over Anna Kirk and Emily Elliot. Then the Cats' pair of Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea earned a victory at No. 3, 6-4 over Paige Conrad and Alex Kramer. 

Kayva Patel lit the fire for the Wildcats in singles play, claiming a win at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0 over Sophia Amato. Daniela Porges followed with a win at No.6, 6-0, 6-1 over Fabiana Tort-Umpierre, before Josie Schaffer closed out singles, defeating Amanda Nava at No.1, 6-3, 6-2.  

VCU won the double points by seizing wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. The duo of Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado and Laura Garcia Astudillo defeated Carly Cohen and Marta Buendia 6-3 at No. 2. Nina Sorkin and Yelizaveta Karlova then secured the doubles point for the Cats with a 7-6(1) win over Helene Heiberg and Emily Garvin at No. 3 doubles. 

Shivani Manjanna sealed the deal with a flawless win at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0 over Emily Garvin. Nina Sorkin followed suit with a win at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Helene Heiberg. Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado closed out singles for the Rams with a victory at No.1, 6-1,6-1 over Emily Dunbar.
