ORLANDO, Fla. – Third-seeded Fordham defeated No. 6 Saint Louis 4-2, while No. 7 George Washington defeated No. 2 Massachusetts, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championship at the USTA National Campus on Thursday.

Fordham advances to face No. 7 George Washington on Friday at 5:30 pm in the semifinals.  

Fordham earned victories in No. 2 and No.1 doubles to claim the opening point and an early match lead. Carlota Casasampere and Rachelle Yang won 6-3 at No. 2 over Jessica Stefan and Mya Spencer. Eleni Fasouli and Nicole Li set the match win, with a triumph at No.1, (6-2) over Mariona Perez and Elizabeth Mintusova.

Lorraine Bergmann got the Rams going in singles play with a win at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1 over Mya Spencer. Carlota Casasampere continued the Rams' momentum with a steady win at No. 4 6-3, 6-2 over Lucija Faj before Nicole Li sealed the deal with a win at No. 5, 6-0, 6-3, over Jessica Stefan.  

George Washington won the double points by seizing wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 courts. The duo of Stella Wiesemann and Charlotte Bell defeated Anna Napadly and Renata Farima at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, before Katarina Marinkovikj and Alexandra Vesikallio won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4. 
 
After UMass tied the match with a win behind Mariya Krasakova at court four, Katarina Marinkovikj flipped the score back the Colonials' way with a win over Anna Napadiy at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3.

The Minutewomen took the next two courts as Polina Akimova won in straight sets at No. 6 singles, and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul survived a three-set match over Charlotte Bell to put UMass up 3-2.

With both of the final courts on the third sets and GW leading, Alexandra Vesikallio struck first at No.3 singles, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 over Danielle Hack to even the match score at three-all. In quick succession, Stella Wiesemann closed out singles play winning the second two sets at No.1 singles, 6-7(3),6-3,6-2, securing the final point of the match.
